The Reno Area 99s

A full brand-aligned website for the Reno Area Chapter of the Ninety-Nines — nearly a century of women's aviation legacy, given a digital front door built around three actions: join, attend, apply.

The Reno Area 99s homepage hero — the headline “Women Who Fly. Together.” over a Cessna flying through golden clouds, with buttons to join, see meetings, and apply for a scholarship.

The problem

A chapter with real history — decades at the Reno National Championship Air Races, active mentorship programs, and annual scholarships — had no digital front door that matched its impact. Prospective members had no fast way to understand who the 99s are, what they do, or how to join. That's a leaky funnel for any organization, but especially costly for one that depends on new pilots discovering it exists.

The approach

We didn't just build a website. We translated 97 years of aviation legacy — founded in 1929 with Amelia Earhart as its first elected president — into a modern digital experience that a 22-year-old student pilot and a 60-year-old commercial pilot both immediately understand. We led with the line that defines the chapter: “Women Who Fly. Together.” Every page was built around three actions: join, attend, apply for a scholarship.

  • Homepage built to convert visitors in under 10 seconds of scanning
  • A dedicated scholarship section that removes the guesswork for applicants
  • Meeting and event information front and center, no digging required
  • A visual identity that feels aviation-grade: confident, clean, credible
  • Mobile-first build, because pilots check sites from hangars, not desks

The outcome

Before this launch, the chapter's digital presence didn't reflect its real impact. Now it does. This is the difference between a nonprofit that has a website and one whose website actually works for it — recruiting members, funding scholarships, and keeping a 97-year legacy visible to the next generation of women pilots.

Why this matters

If you're evaluating a website partner for a mission-driven organization, this is the model: a site that carries real history without letting that history slow anyone down.

Strategy before design.
Every page traces back to the action the chapter needed visitors to take.
Built to convert, not just impress.
Clear calls to action for joining, attending, and applying for scholarships.
Respect for legacy, built for today.
Decades of history distilled into a site that feels immediate and welcoming.
One operator, full accountability.
Direct execution from strategy to build, with no handoffs diluting the vision.

Peter Ocean Media builds websites the same way the Reno Area 99s build their community: with clarity, purpose, and an eye toward who's coming up next.
